Sushmita Sen in Kiah Jewellery - Sexy photo shoot

Sushmita Sen is the original diva – attractive, witty, charming and living life on her terms. Her ‘essence of a woman’ answer won her the Miss Universe title, the first for an Indian. She adopted a baby against all odds becoming a single mother and is unapologetic about the men she dates or leaves.

Basics on Sush
Sushmita Sen is a Bengali, born on 19th November 1975 in Hyderabad, India. Her father is Shubeer Sen who worked as an Indian Air Force Wing Commander. Her mother Subhra Sen is a jewelry designer and also owns a store in Dubai called Renee. She has a brother, Rajeev and a sister, Neelam.

She has lived in Nagpur, Jorhat and New Delhi. She studied at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute and Air Force Silver School in New Delhi. She studied English and also holds a degree in journalism.

Standing tall at 5.10” she entered the Femina Miss India contest. She won the title though Aishwarya Rai was expected to win it. She became the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe title in 1994.

She decided to adopt a child which wasn’t an easy task as she is unmarried and involved legal hassles. She officially adopted a girl Renee in 2000.

Sush has dated Manav Menon, Randeep Hooda, Sabeer Bhatia and many others.

Sushmita Sen’s Movies
1996 to 2000 Sushmita Sen’s first movie was Dastak in 1996 in which she is harassed by a stalker. It wasn’t a big success. Zor in 1997 was also an average performer. She made her debut the same year in a Tamil movie, Ratchagan which did well.

In 1999, she landed roles in Sirf Tum, Hindustan Ki Kasam and the comedy Biwi No.1. She played Rupali, an ambitious model in the latter looking for a rich man. She won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. She put in an appearance in the movie Fiza (2000) with the song “Mehboob Mere”.

2001 to 2005 The year 2001 saw her in the song sequence “Shaka Laka Baby” in Nayak and Madhalvan. She starred in Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai (2001) as Lara Oberoi with Rani Mukherji and Abhishek Bacchan. The movie failed at the box office.

In 2002, she took on the role of a teacher at a blind school in the moderately successful Aankhen with Amitabh Bacchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal. In Rakhee Gulzaar’s Filhaal (2002) she played a surrogate mother.

While Samay: When Time Strikes, Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye, Paisa Vasool in 2004 didn’t fare well, her saree-clad professor Chandni role in Main Hoon Na had the audience asking for more.

Kalpana Lajmi’s Chingari (2004) cast her as a prostitute who wreaks havoc when her lover is killed. She worked with Salman Khan again in David Dhawan’s Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya which was a hit.

2006 to 2009 She played the role of a rock star in Tanuja Chandra’s Zindaggi Rocks (2006) and Durga in Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag (2007). Both movies struck an average note at the box office.

Sushmita Sen will be seen next in Karma, Confessions and Holi which stars Naomi Campbell, Drena De Niro, Rati Agnihotri among others. Do Not Disturb and Marmayogi are two other movies the actress will be seen in. She is also in talks about a movie on the slain Benazir Bhutto.
